Framingham State defeats Women's Soccer in MASCAC Quarterfinal 1-0

Framingham, MA- The third seeded Framingham State Rams received a first half goal from Marisa Parent and they held off the sixth seeded MCLA Trailblazers 1-0 in the quarterfinal round of the MASCAC women's soccer championships.

The Rams move on to face second seeded Westfield State on Friday night, while MCLA concludes their season at 5-12-1.

Parent connected in the 20th minute for her 17th marker of the season. The Rams controlled the first half outshooting MCLA 13-3 over the opening forty five minutes.

In the second half, MCLA did create some chances to even the score while Framingham continued to carry much of the play.  Framingham outshot MCLA 9-3 in the second half and appeared to put some separation between them in the 80th minute.

An FSU goal was waived off due to a hand ball foul which negated a back breaking goal.  MCLA had a chance down the stretch and the Rams couldn't rest until Alexi Anderson's header was corraled by Sara Sullivan in the waning seconds to preserve the win.

Sullivan earned the shutout stopping a pair of shots.

Katy Daly absorbed the loss for MCLA collecting five saves.
