Women's Soccer falls 2-0 on road to MASCAC foe Salem State

Salem, MA- The MCLA Women's Soccer team went on the road and fell to Salem State 2-0 this afternoon in MASCAC action.  With the loss, MCLA is now 2-3-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference.  The Vikings earn their first win in moving to 1-7 and sit at 1-1 in the conference.

After a scoreless first half, Salem scored a pair of goals in the closing period to put away the Trailblazers.  In the 59th minute, Ashley Leboeuf slipped one past MCLA's Megan Richardson and it was 1-0 in favor of the Vikings.  The marker was her first of the season.

The hosts salted the game away in the 70th minute when Devyn Malatesta converted a Casey McFall pass and it was quickly 2-0.  Salem controlled possession for most of the match as they held a commanding 17-3 shot advantage over the Trailblazers, including a 14-1 edge on net.  SSU also had a 10-1 margin in corner kicks.

Salem State's Backe earned the win stopping the only shot she saw.

Richardson was outstanding again for MCLA collecting 12 saves on the afternoon.

MCLA is back in action on Tuesday night when they host Southern Vermont at 6pm.
