Holliday's goal leads women's soccer to third straight win with 2-0 win over Fitchburg State

Fitchburg, MA- MCLA's Kaylyn Holliday converted in the 35th minute and Trailblazer goal keeper Megan Richardson pitched a shutout in leading the women's soccer team to a 2-0 road win over Fitchburg State in MASCAC action this afternoon.  The win marked the third straight for MCLA as they improve to 3-8 on the season and 2-3 in the conference.  The Falcons drop to 4-11 overall and are 1-5 in the MASCAC.

Holliday's goal came off a nice feed from Hannah Van De Water for the 1-0 edge.  The goal marked the second straight game that Holliday has tallied as she led the team in scoring a year ago.  The score would remain that way into the half as neither team generated much offense.

In the second half, the Falcons had some chances, but Richardson was outstanding as she turned away 8 shots to earn her third win of the season.

MCLA would add an insurance tally in the final twenty seconds of play to secure the victory.  Shannon Prouty scored her first collegiate goal with just 15 seconds left to play for the insurance tally.

The Falcons held a 16-11 shot advantage but just a 3-2 mark in corner kicks.

The Trailblazers will seek their fourth straight win on Tuesday when they head over to face Albany College of Pharmacy.
