Van De Water nets a pair of goals, but Women's Soccer falls to ACP 5-2

Troy, NY- The MCLA Women's Soccer team saw their three game win streak come to an end as they fell to Albany College of Pharmacy 5-2 this evening in non conference action.  With the setback, MCLA is now 3-9 on the season heading into a key MASCAC matchup against Salem State on Saturday at home.

ACP started fast in this one tallying a goal just six minutes into the contest.  Katie Benson scored on a feed from Erin Tersegno for an early 1-0 advantage.  They would extend the lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute as Benson and Tersegno switched roles with the latter netting the goal.

MCLA would slice the deficit in half in the 30th minute when Hannah Van De Water converted a Shannon Prouty feed making it 2-1.  The goal was Van De Water's first of the season.

The score remained that way at halftime and in the closing period, ACP extended the margin.  In the 62nd minute, Benson collected her second of the night, once again from Tersegno making it 3-1  Once again they switched roles, this time in the 69th minute to make it 4-1.  

Van De Water would convert her second goal of the night, this time on a feed from Mary Fucci in the 74th minute to give MCLA hope of extending its winning streak, however Benson completed the hat trick in the 79th minute to provide the final margin and some breathing room.

Megan Richardson notched 8 saves in a losing effort for MCLA.

The Trailblazers will face the Vikings of Salem State on Saturday as they will also celebrate Senior Day prior to kickoff.
