Women's Soccer falls on the road at Castleton

Castleton, VT- Rylee Nichols scored a pair of goals to lead the host Castleton University women's soccer team to a convincing 5-0 win over MCLA this afternoon at Spartan Stadium.  With the win, the Spartans improve to 2-3 on the season.  The Trailblazers drop to 1-3 as they head into conference play this weekend.

Castleton started quickly in this one and never looked back.  In the fourth minute, Makenzi Bellando scored unassisted for an early 1-0 lead.  Nichols would get on the board in the 16th minute off a Bellando cross to make it 2-0.

Just three minutes later, Nichols would add her second marker of the night as she ripped a shot from the 18' to beat MCLA keeper Megan Richardson and the Spartans had a 3-0 edge.  They would add another goal in the 33rd minute when Natasha Silva scored.  The score would remain 4-0 entering halftime.

Castleton would provide the final margin in the 54th minute on a goal from Bronwen Hopwood.

In the contest, Castleton outshot MCLA 23-4.  Loren Henderson collected the win after playing the first half in net for Castleton.

Richardson stopped six shots but absorbed the loss for MCLA.

The Trailblazers will travel to Worcester State on Saturday to open up MASCAC play.
