Women's Soccer falls 4-0 to Salem State

North Adams, MA- The visiting Salem State women's soccer team overwhelmed the MCLA Trailblazers 4-0 this evening at Shewcraft Field in MASCAC action.  The Vikings (3-5-2, 2-0-1 MASCAC) had four different players record goals.

MCLA (1-9-1, 0-3 MASCAC) will host Cobleskill on Wednesday looking to snap a three game losing streak.

Salem's Devyn Malatesta got the scoring started in the sixth minute as she headed home a corner kick from Emily Boyle for a quick 1-0 lead.  The goal was her second of the season.  Although the Vikings outshot MCLA 22-0 in the opening half, the score remained just 1-0.

SSU finally broke the game open in the second half.  In the 64th minute of play, Katie Brown tallied an unassisted goal and when Julianna Stacey netted another goal in the 67th minute, it was 3-0 Vikings.

Colleen Hurley would round out the scoring in the 77th minute to provide the final margin.

Salem would end the game with a commanding 37-1 shot advantage.

Rebecca Sabino would collect the win without facing a shot on goal.

Megan Richardson collected 21 saves in defeat.
