Tennis rolls past Becker with 8-1 victory

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Tennis team opened their season with a convincing 8-1 win over visiting Becker College at the Zavattaro Athletics complex.  The match was the opener for both clubs.

The Trailblazers wasted little time in taking command as they swept the opening doubles matches.  MCLA would continue the momentum into singles as they pulled away for the win.

Emily Deaso and Mariza Sfakianaki earned an 8-2 win in doubles, before both rolled to straight set wins in singles.  Deaso won her singles match 6-1, 6-1.

Also earning a pair of points was Rebecca Waterhouse and Sarah Mikutowicz.  Waterhouse teamed with Ama Adwetewa-Badu to earn a hard fought 8-5 doubles point, before winning 6-3, 6-3 in the fifth singles slot.  Mikutowicz earned a doubles point and swept her singles match.

Other Trailblazers earning points included Sarah Murphy and Kylie Dumas.  Murphy teamed with Mikutowicz to earn her point, while Dumas won a singles match.

MCLA will be back on the courts Friday when they host Worcester State at 3:00pm.
