Tennis nipped at Castleton 5-4
Castleton, VT- The MCLA Trailblazers women's tennis program dropped a tough 5-4 match as they opened NAC play against Castleton State. The loss drops MCLA to 2-3 on the season.
Sarah Murphy earned a pair of points for the Trailblazers, while Mariza Sfakianaki and Rebecca Waterhouse earned the others.
MCLA took the opening doubles match as Murphy and Sarah Mikutowicz won 8-6. The Trailblazers would drop the next two doubles matches to head into singles down 2-1.
Murphy won in three sets, however Mikutowicz would fall in three sets to keep Castleton in front. The Spartans took the number three singles match before Sfakianaki and Waterhouse kept MCLA alive with victories.
Castleton won the pivotal sixth singles match in three sets to secure the victory.
