Women's Tennis nipped at St. Joseph (CT) 5-3

West Hartford, CT- The MCLA Women's Tennis team dropped a hard fought 5-3 decision to the University of St. Joseph (CT) Bluejays on Monday afternoon.  The Trailblazers are now 5-5 while USJ improves to 6-3.

USJ took an early 2-1 advantage taking wins in the first and third doubles slot.  The MCLA duo of Mariza Sfakianaki and Emily Deaso cruised to a point with an 8-2 win over Amanda Willhoft and Emely Chenard.

MCLA earned wins in the top two singles matches, however USJ swept the final three points, while the final match was called due to darkness.

Sarah Mikutowicz and Sarah Murphy each earned points for MCLA in straight sets.  The match seemed to swing in the 3rd and 4th slots.  USJ earned points in both as they went to a third set tie breaker.

Lisa Wawrzynowski defeated Sfakianaki 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (10-5) to give the Blue Jays the lead in the match.  Chenard would also win in a tie break having beaten Emily Deaso 2-6, 6-1, 6-6 (10-7).

The Trailblazers will look to get back on the winning track on Thursday when they challenge Anna Maria.
