Tennis downs Becker 7-2 to improve to 3-0 on the season
Leciester, MA- The MCLA Women's Tennis team keeps rolling along as they won their third straight match by defeating Becker 7-2 this afternoon. The Trailblazers improve to 3-0 on the season. Mariza Sfakianaki and Taylor Turner each won a pair of points for MCLA.
MCLA took a 2-1 lead following doubles play. The top duo of Emily Deaso and Sfakianaki cruised to an 8-1 victory, while Turner teamed with Shelby Gauthier to earn an 8-3 win in the second slot. Becker took the third doubles match besting Rebecca Waterhouse and Anna Despart 8-5.
In singles play, Deaso fell in the number one slot 7-6, 6-3, 10-7. Turner earned her second point in straight sets by a score of 6-1, 6-3. Sfakianaki won a hard fought match 6-4, 6-2 handing MCLA the win.
Waterhouse and Despart each earned points in the fourth and fifth slots, while Ashley Juskhas won her first match of the season by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 13-11.
The Trailblazers are back in action this week when they travel to Worcester State on Friday.
