Tennis drops season finale at Anna Maria 5-4

Paxton, MA- The MCLA Women's Tennis team fell to Anna Maria 5-4 this afternoon in the season finale for the Trailblazers.  MCLA closes its season at 6-7 overall while Anna Maria improves to 3-7 on the season.

The Amcats took two of the three doubles matches to take an early 2-1 lead heading into singles.  MCLA's Anna Despart and Rebecca Waterhouse took the lone doubles point winning their match 8-1 in the third slot.

In singles, MCLA senior Kylie Dumas knotted the score up at 2-2 by earning a point in the sixth slot.  She won a battle 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.  AMC however would take two of the next three points making it 4-3 in favor of AMC.  MCLA put another point on the board when Mariza Sfakianaki won in straight sets to tie the match.

The outcome came down to the fifth singles match.  AMC's Freya Spous won over MCLA's Ashley Juskhas as she took the final pro style set 10-8 to seal the win for the Amcats.

The Trailblazers return their entire roster in 2016 with the exception of Dumas.  The senior has been an integral part of the program throughout her career.
