Tennis blanked by Colby Sawyer 9-0 in NAC action
New London, NH- The Colby Sawyer women's tennis team ran through the MCLA Trailblazers 9-0 this afternoon in NAC action. The match was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was postponed due to rain. With the win, the Chargers remain atop the NAC at 5-0 (8-1 overall) while MCLA drops to 5-4 on the season and sit at 3-2 in the conference.
The Chargers dropped just a single game in doubles as they easily jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Ashley Woodside and Aislinn O'Connor won 8-1 while Lauren Blanchard and Christine Hill also won by that margin. Michelle Lopes and Hilary Boucher won 8-0 in the third doubles slot.
In singles action, the Chargers went through the lineup relatively unscathed. Woodside won in straight sets in the top slot while Maddy Gemerek won 6-1, 6-3 in the second over Emily Deaso. O'Connor, Hill, Blanchard, and Alexa Conlin also earned points for CSC.
MCLA continues a tough three day stretch with a 4pm tilt tomorrow at the Bennington Tennis Center when they host Thomas (ME) in a key NAC matchup with playoff implications.
