Volleyball cruises past Becker 3-0

LEICESTER, Mass.-  MCLA defeated host Becker College, 3-0 in non-conference women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-16, 25-9, 25-17. The Trailblazers evened their record at 3-3, while the Hawks fell to 1-8.

MCLA was led by Margaret Allen (East Patchouge, N.Y.) with a team high eight kills and a pair of blocks. Rebecca Godbout (Springfield, Mass.) chipped in with five kills, while Ashley Lowell added four kills and two blocks. Courtney Parent (South Deerfield, Mass.) provided ten assists along with eight service aces.

Sophomore Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I.) finished with eight kills and two blocks for Becker. Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine) set the Hawks up with ten assists. Samantha Caouette (Montague, Mass.) and Kirsti Hadzewycz  (Daytona Beach, Fla.) tallied four kills each in the loss.

MCLA returns to action tomorrow when they host U. Maine Fort Kent and Lyndon State in a tri-match beginning at 11:00 a.m. Becker will travel to Pine Manor on Thursday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.
