Volleyball falls in MASCAC Quarterfinals 3-0 to Bridgewater

Bridgewater, MA- The fourth seeded Bridgewater State Volleyball team overcame a sluggish start to sweep the fifth seeded MCLA Trailblazers 3-0 this evening at the Tinsley Center in the MASCAC quarterfinals.  With the win, the Bears (18-18) advance to battle the top seeded Framingham State Rams on Saturday at 11am.

MCLA ends their season at 15-13 as they fell for the second time in four days to the Bears.

The Trailblazers came out strong jumping out to a 7-2 lead before Bridgewater quickly rallied to tie the set at 9-9.  They would go on to outscore MCLA 16-7 from there to earn a 25-16 set victory in game one.

The Bears would take game two in similar fashion 25-19 before closing out MCLA 25-14 in the third set.

MCLA was paced by Courtney Parent's 9 assists and Rebecca Godbout's 5 kills.  The Trailblazers were hurt by 12 attack errors and hit just .077 for the match.

The Bears were led by the duo of Hannah Maymon and Julie Hutchins.  They had 13 and 10 kills respectively as they helped the hosts to an impressive .297 hitting percentage.  Charleyne Panner set them up all night collecting assisting on 41 of the Bears 44 kills.  Lisa Vega notched 10 digs for the victors.
