Volleyball beaten at Salve 3-0 in ECAC New England Regional quarterfinals

Newport, RI- The second seeded Salve Regina Volleyball program swept the seventh seeded MCLA Trailblazers 3-0 in the quarterfinal round of the ECAC New England Championships this evening at the Rodgers Recreation Center.  With the win, the Seahawks advance to the semifinals to be hosted by fellow CCC foe Western New England on Saturday.  MCLA ends their season at 15-14.

The Seahawks (21-10) cruised to an opening 25-11 win in the opening set before earning a hard fought 25-20 decision in the second to take a commanding lead.  They would finish off MCLA 25-18 in the third to clinch the victory.

The Seahawks were paced by Jennifer Duggan's match best 9 kills on 23 attacks.  She added 8 digs.  Katelyn Beauregard chipped in with 8 kills, while Taylor Violet set them up all night collecting 23 assists. 

MCLA was paced by Margaret Allen's 5 kills in a losing effort.  The Trailblazers were hampered by 23 attack errors in just 80 attempts.  They also committed eight service errors.

The match was the last in a Trailblazer uniform for Jackie Paluilis, Allie Chang, Darien Quick, and Amanda Fleming.

The ECAC appearance was also the first in the program's history.  MCLA tied the school record for wins in a season with 15 and will return a host of players in 2015.
