Godbout notches 8 kills in 3-1 MASCAC win over Mass. Maritime

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Rebecca Godbout (Springfield, Mass.) notched eight kills and five digs to lead MCLA to a 3-1 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Sunday afternoon by game scores of 25-5, 25-11, 17-25 and 25-11 in a match played at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

Senior Sam Anderson (Floral Park, N.Y.) added six kills in the win for the visiting Trailblazers (7-7, 1-1 MASCAC), who also received five kills each from freshmen Alyssa Keegan (Levittown, N.Y.) and Brooke Queripel (Palmer, Ak.).  Junior Tayler Wiese (Las Vegas, Nev.) chipped in with 15 set assists and six service aces for MCLA, while the tandem of sophomore Beatrice Lechler (Point Lookout, N.Y.) and freshman Tessa Sestito (Corona, Calif.) combined for 25 set assists and four service aces.  Junior Chanielle Enomoto (Wailuku, Hawai'i) recorded 15 digs for the visitors, who also received a combined 15 digs from junior Michelle Laga(Mahopac, N.Y.) and freshman Casey Malzahn (Sparrow Bush, N.Y.).

Freshman Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass.) paced the host Buccaneers (1-14, 0-1 MASCAC) with 12 digs, nine kills and a pair of set assists on the day, while fellow freshman Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass.) chipped in with nine set assists, five kills and three digs.  Senior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) and freshman Christina Ruggeri (Bourne, Mass.) each notched 13 digs and three kills for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received eight digs and five set assists from senior Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.).

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Framingham, Mass. on Wednesday evening to take on Framingham State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match that begins at 6:00 p.m., while MCLA travels to Paxton, Mass. on Tuesday evening to square off with Anna Maria in a non-league clash beginning at 7:00 p.m.
