North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball program will open up their 2017 season quite a ways from Berkshire County. The Trailblazers will open up a challenging 28 match slate beginning with a trip to the West Coast on September 1st. The Trailblazers will take on Redlands and Wisconsin Eau Claire in the season opening Pacific Classic. MCLA will continue the West Coast swing the following day with matches against Occidental and Chapman before returning home.
The Trailblazers, under the direction of head coach Amanda Beckwith, will open the home schedule on September 5th when they take on Mount Holyoke at 7pm. Another home tilt follows against Anna Maria before MCLA embarks on a six game road trip culminating with a tournament at Union (NY). Also featured in that stretch is the MASCAC opener and championship game rematch with defending champion Framingham State on 9/12.
MCLA has a modest three match homestand with Williams, Salem State, and Elms coming to the Amsler Campus Center gym prior to another four game stretch on the road. Matches with conference foes Worcester State and Westfield State bookend the tough stretch that also includes trips to Southern Vermont and Sage.
Once the Trailblazers get to Mid October, they play six of their final nine matches at home. MCLA hosts Castleton on 10/12 before a tri match featuring Bridgewater State and Eastern Connecticut on the 14th. Road trips to Fitchburg State and Keene State follow, while MCLA returns home for their final week of the regular season.
MCLA will host Cobleskill on 10/24 before culminating the regular season with a twinbill against Mass. Maritime on 10/28. The MASCAC playoffs begin on Wednesday, November 1st.
The Trailblazers went 17-14 last season. They were 4-2 in league play and advanced to the MASCAC championship game of the second straight season.
