Volleyball clinches fourth seed with sweep of Mass. Maritime

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy this afternoon in the MASCAC finale for both schools.  The two teams played a doubleheader in which the Trailblazers took game two by an identical score.

With the win in game one, the Trailblazers earn the fourth seed in next week's MASCAC championship.  MCLA (11-17, 4-3 MASCAC) will host Bridgewater State on Wednesday night at 7pm.  MMA falls to 3-26 with the setbacks.

Game One-

The Trailblazers took the opening set 25-8 before taking the second in similar fashion 25-5.  They would close out the match with a 25-10 win in the third.

MCLA helped their cause with 21 aces in the match.  Tayler Wiese notched 7 while Parker Snyder and Michelle Laga each had 4.  Maggie Allen and Bri O'Rourke each collected 5 kills in the match.  Natasha Stewart added 8 assists.

MMA was hampered by 28 errors in the match.  Marie Harrison led the Bucs with 4 kills.

Game Two-

MCLA took game two by set scores of 25-7, 25-7, and 25-13 to earn the sweep.

Maggie Allen notched a game best 9 kills in the nightcap to pace the offense.  Bri O'Rourke added five more to her totals.  Tayler Wiese collected 24 assists in the win for the Trailblazers.  Michelle Laga paced the defense with 12 digs.

For MMA, they were led by Tina Ruggeri who notched 10 digs in defeat.  The Bucs had 24 attack errors in the contest.

In between matches, MCLA honored their six seniors.  Maggie Allen, Bri O'Rourke, Tayler Wiese, Michelle Laga, Melissa Hopkins, and Mele Enomoto played their final regular season home game today.
