Volleyball sweeps Amcats in home opener 3-0

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team snapped a three game slide with a convincing 3-0 home victory over the visiting Anna Maria Amcats this evening in the Amsler Campus Center Gym.  The match was the home opener for MCLA as they improve to 2-3 overall.  The Amcats drop to 1-2 on the season.

MCLA got off to a torrid start as Tessa Sestito held serve for the matches first 11 points.  The Trailblazers were never threatened as they cruised in the opening set 25-13.  They would take the second set 25-16 before closing out the visitors 25-11 and clinch the win.

The Trailblazers were paced by Sara LaFreniere who filled up the stat sheet.  She collected 5 kills, 6 aces, and 11 digs to lead the offensive attack.  Alyssa Keegan notched a team best 7 kills for MCLA on 23 total attacks.  Beatrice Lechler and Sestito set up the offense to the tune of 8 and 7 assists.

The Trailblazers were tough serving all night as they collected 18 aces in the match as Lechler notched four of her own.

Celine Manigbas only played in the first two sets but ended with a team best 11 digs.

No Amcat registered more than three kills on the evening.  Anna Maria was hampered by 17 attack errors in the loss.

MCLA is back in action on Saturday when they head to Castleton for a tri match starting at noon.
