MCLA drops a pair of games on Senior Day

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball team dropped a pair of games this afternoon as they hosted a tri match with Norwich and Lebanon Valley.  The Trailblazers fell in five sets to the Cadets in the opening game 3-2 before Lebanon Valley earned a 3-0 win in the nightcap.  Lebanon Valley completed the sweep by defeating Norwich 3-1 as well.

The Trailblazers fall to 6-12 on the season.  Norwich is 6-9 while Lebanon Valley improves to 11-8.

MCLA vs. Norwich-

The Trailblazers took the opening set 25-20 before the Cadets took the next two by scores of 26-24 and 25-23 to take a 2-1 lead.  MCLA forced a fifth set with a 25-23 win of their own before Norwich took the decisive fifth set 15-9 to earn the win.

Norwich received a great performance from setter Emily Oliver.  She collected a match best 51 assists on the afternoon while adding 14 digs.  Julia Schroeder led the offense with 19 kills and completed the double double with 20 digs.  Michele Zummo added 14 kills and 12 digs while Kathryn Farnum ended with 12 kills and 8 digs.

MCLA was paced offensively by Sara LaFreniere's team high 15 kills.  She added 11 digs.  Ahna Schlaefer collected 10 kills while Tessa Sestito and Beatrice Lechler set up the offense with 27 and 16 assists respectively.  Celine Manigbas notched 29 digs in defeat.  Lechler ended with a double finishing with 13 digs.

MCLA vs. Lebanon Valley-

Lebanon Valley cruised in this one as they took the opening set 25-18 and the second 25-11.  They put match away with a 25-14 win in the third.

Jess Attieh ended with 15 kills and 10 digs to lead LVC.  Jensen Burnheimer added 16 assists in the win.

MCLA was led by Sara LaFreniere's team best 7 kills.

Norwich vs. Lebanon Valley-

LVC took charge early winning the first two sets in convincing fashion 25-8 and 25-13.  Norwich would rally though and took the third set 25-23 to force a fourth.  LVC earned the win with a 25-18 fourth set victory.

Jess Attieh paced the offense with 18 kills.  Amanda Sides added 8 for LVC.  Jensen Burnheimer notched 35 assists to lead the team.  Reily Shelly had 10 digs.

For Norwich, they were paced by Julia Schroeder's 8 kills.  Emily Oliver added 27 assists in the nightcap for the Cadets.  Olivia Brown collected 16 digs.
