Volleyball drops four set match at Cobleskill 3-1

Cobleskill, NY- The Cobleskill Fighting Tigers volleyball team earned a hard fought 3-1 victory Tuesday night over the visiting MCLA Trailblazers in non league action this evening.  Cobleskill improves to 7-15 overall with the win.  MCLA drops their third straight contest in falling to 7-17 overall.

The Trailblazers will finish up the regular season on Friday night when they head to Mass. Maritime.  MCLA has to win that contest to qualify for next week's MASCAC tournament.

In this contest, the hosts took the opening set 25-13 before MCLA rebounded in the second to square the match at 1-1 following their own 25-13 win.  Cobleskill would edge MCLA 25-21 in the pivotal third set and then close out the visitors with a 26-24 win in the fourth set to earn the win.

Sara LaFreniere led MCLA with 12 kills on 34 attacks.  Alyssa Keegan added 9 kills while Kelsey LaFreniere and Reagan Scattergood each had 6.  Tessa Sestito notched 31 assists to lead all players.  Celine Manigbas led the defensive effort with 33 digs while Sestito added 21 of her own.  Natasha Stewart and Sara LaFreniere ended with double figure digs with 19 and 14 respectively.

Cobleskill was paced by Regan Hubner's 8 kills.  Rachel Burke added 7 while Karyn Knaul notched 5.  Hubner also filled the stat sheet with 13 assists and 10 digs.  Three other Tigers collected double figure digs.

Cobleskill held a 12-6 edge in aces and MCLA suffered from 25 attack errors in the loss.
