Volleyball grabs a pair of W's on Senior Day

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Volleyball program swept a pair of games this afternoon in a tri match with Salem State and St. Joseph (CT) as they celebrated Senior Day.  The Trailblazers took both matches by identical 3-0 scores.  MCLA is now 15-8 on the season after the victories.  Prior to the start of the USJ matchup, the program honored Sestito for her dedication and contributions to the program.

MCLA defeats Salem State 3-0

In the opening matchup, the Trailblazers defeated the Vikings in a MASCAC matchup.  With the win, MCLA improves to 3-2 in conference play.  The Vikings fall to 1-4 in the conference.

The Trailblazers took the match by scores of 25-16, 25-18, and 25-10.

Ahna Schlaefer and Reagan Scattergood each had 10 kills to pace the MCLA offense.  Tessa Sestito collected 37 assists in the win.  Natasha Stewart and Kelly Moczulski paced the defense with 25 and 12 digs respectively. 

For the Vikings, they were led by Darcy McDowell's four kills.  Morgan Adams added 13 assists.

MCLA handles USJ 3-0

The Trailblazers handled the Bluejays in three sets.  They took the first set 25-17 before closing out USJ by scores of 25-19 and 25-16 to earn the win.

Sestito led a balanced attack for MCLA with 32 assists and added 4 kills.   Kelly Moczulski collected 8 kills while Reagan Scattergood and Ahna Schlaefer would collect 7 apiece.  Madison Jayne chipped in with 6 kills of her own.

The Trailblazers served well as they notched 13 aces.  Schlaefer added five aces to her stat line.  Natasha Stewart paced the defense with 16 digs while Moczulski finished with 12.

USJ was paced by Shannon Carey's 8 kills.  Nyah Young collected 14 assists in the loss.

MCLA is back in action on Wednesday when they head to Worcester State for a key MASCAC tilt.
