Joe Murray, Basketball/Baseball

Joe Murray, Basketball/Baseball

Murray came to MCLA after transferring from Columbia Greene Community College and playing both basketball and baseball for the school. Murray previously attended Cairo-Durham high school.

Murray has started every game this year for Coach Derek Shell and the Trailblazers at center. Murray is averaging 8.0 points-per-game and 9.2 rebounds-per-game early on. In the past two games, Murray has posted double-doubles with 16 points and 13 rebounds in a loss vs Sage College and 15 points and 14 rebounds in a loss vs Wesleyan (Conn.) College.

Murray has become a leader for the Trailblazer team and it has come of a bit of a surprise. Murray originally chose MCLA to play baseball for the school, and after looking over his options, he decided to compete in basketball at the school as well.

Once the spring hits, Murray will be stepping on the baseball field where he will provide much needed innings for the Trailblazers on the mound.

Hear more about Murray's last two breakout performances and how he plans to manage being a dull sport athlete in this week's student athlete profile.
