MCLA Names Erica Li Coordinator of Academic Success and Diversity

NORTH ADAMS, MA—The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Athletics department has announced the hiring of Erica Li as the new Coordinator of Academic Success and Diversity.  The position is part of the NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant.   The grant funded position is for two years.

"We are very pleased to welcome Erica to the Trailblazer family.  Her success at Williams and her enthusiasm to succeed will provide our student-athletes with a supportive environment as it relates to academics and inclusion," Director of Athletics Laura Mooney stated.

Li comes to MCLA after a stellar career at nearby Williams College for the Softball program.  While an Eph, Li was a four year member of the program and earned the captaincy during her senior season.  Li was named an All American last year and also was tabbed as the New England Small College Athletics Conference (NESCAC) player of the year.  Her teams at Williams competed in the NCAA Tournament her final three seasons, including being a regional finalist the last two seasons.

While Li was an accomplished softball player, she was also an active member of the campus community.  She served as a junior advisor at Williams which serves as a mentoring program for first year students.   She was selected out of a pool of 120 candidates for the advising position.  The program entailed living amongst the first year students, mentoring them academically, and assisting them with the transition to Williams.

Li is looking forward to getting underway on the North Adams campus.  "I think this is a great starting point for my career in athletics.  I'm excited to see how I can impact the student-athletes during my time at MCLA." Li said about her new position.

Li begins immediately in her role.  The position will include academic support for the student athlete population, aid in diversity recruitment efforts, and assisting the Director of Athletics where needed.
