Moulton, McKay named to MASCAC Sportsmanship teams

WESTFIELD, Mass. – 29 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship as members of the 2017 Winter Sportsmanship Team.  The MASCAC Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes and coaches who display outstanding sportsmanship on and off the field.

As an important piece of the MASCAC and NCAA philosophy, the representatives on the team display what it means to have good sportsmanship in the MASCAC.  MCLA has representation on both the Men's and Women's Basketball rosters.  A student-athlete from each institution is selected by their coach to be placed on the Sportsmanship Team.

Starting off with men's basketball, Patrick McGuinness of Bridgewater State, Jalen Williams of Fitchburg State, Patrick Gould of Framingham State, Tyler McKay of MCLA, Temitope Bailey of Salem State, Phil DiPhilippo of Westfield State and Corey Gatta of Worcester State received Sportsmanship Team accolades.

For women's basketball, Janet Maher of Bridgewater State, Briana Pelton of Fitchburg State, Quinn O'Connell of Framingham State, Emily Moulton of MCLA, Saran Kaba of Salem State, McKenna Doremus of Westfield State and Kate Surprenant of Worcester State earn sportsmanship honors.

Moulton and McKay were regular starters in the Trailblazers lineups this past season.  Both student athletes will return for the 2017-18 campaign and should see continued opportunities.
