MCLA to induct three into Athletics Hall of Fame on October 4th

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Athletics department will welcome three new members into the Hall of Fame in October as part of homecoming weekend.  The 2019 class includes a trio of standout performers who left their mark on campus.

Entering the Hall of Fame in October will be Ryan Kiernan '02 (Ice Hockey), Lucy Tremblay '13 (Women's Basketball), and Shaun Richard '03 (Baseball).

The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, October 4th at the Holiday Inn in North Adams.  Tickets will be available beginning on August 1st and can also be purchased at the door.

Here is a closer look the class of 2019:

Ryan Kiernan (Ice Hockey) - Class of 2002

Kiernan was a two time MVP, an All MASCAC selection, and was the 2002 ECAC East Goaltender of the year.  The goaltender made an immediate impact during his time in North Adams as he appeared in 15 games as a freshman.  He would go on to play in 82 games and capped off a remarkable senior season in which he stopped a whopping 846 shots!  He won a career best 14 games that season and led his team to the ECAC Championship Game against top ranked Norwich.  After his senior season, Kiernan was selected to play in the ECAC Division III All Star Game.

Following his collegiate career, he signed a minor league contract with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies.  After wrapping up his playing career, Kiernan landed a position at NBC News in Washington, DC.  There, he has spent the last 15 years as an Engineer and has worked at locations including the State Department, the Capital, the Pentagon, and the White House.

He currently resides in Bethesda, MD alongside his wife Andrea and their son Carson.

Lucy Tremblay (Women's Basketball) - Class of 2013

Tremblay burst onto the scene at MCLA as she became the first Trailblazer to be named the MASCAC rookie of the year.  Tremblay's emergence helped lift MCLA to their first ever NCAA appearance in 2010 as they captured the MASCAC tournament championship.  Her success didn't end there.  Tremblay would go on to become a member of the 1,000 point club and eventually led the conference in scoring as a senior.

A prolific scorer, Tremblay is second all-time in total points at MCLA only trailing hall of famer Jen Wehner.   Her final two seasons she tallied 822 points in a Trailblazer uniform alone.

Upon graduating, Tremblay became an assistant coach at Bard College and then later at Sage.  After a brief move to Asheville, NC, Tremblay has returned to her native New York.

Shaun Richard (Baseball) - Class of 2003

Richard enjoyed an outstanding career on the diamond in North Adams.  He was a team MVP while also collecting All MASCAC and All New England honors during his career.  After a slow start during his freshman season, Richard took over full time catching duties and became a force on offense and defense.  He batted .348 for his career and is in the top five all time in hits and runs batted in.

Richard also competed locally for the North Adams Steeplecats of the historic NECBL during the summer of 2002 and then won the gold medal as part of the American International Sports Tours in Holland in 2003.

Richard went on to graduate school at Springfield College before landing a job with the Miami Dolphins.  He would eventually work for the Jason Taylor Foundation before switching into higher education.  Richard became the Associate Director of Athletics for External Operations at Colgate University.  Currently, he is the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Sport Administration at The Ohio State University.  At OSU, he oversees five athletic programs, the equipment room, the Ohio State Golf Club, and the largest Nike contract in the country.

While at OSU, Richard married his wife Molly in 2014 and has a two year old daughter Delaney.
