52 Trailblazers named to Fall/Winter 2019 MASCAC All Academic Team

2019 MASCAC Fall/Winter All Academic Team

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Trailblazer student athletes were well represented when the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference (MASCAC) announced their 2019 Fall/Winter All Academic Teams this afternoon.  MCLA saw 52 student athletes make the grade this past fall and were named to the team. 

A total of 1,224 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league's Fall/Winter 2019 All-Academic Team that was released by Commissioner Angela Baumann.

Student-athletes who compete in championship varsity sports offered by each of the MASCAC institutions during the course of the Fall and Winter 2019 athletic season and have achieved a 3.20 cumulative or semester-based grade point average during the semester are eligible for selection to the Fall/Winter All-Academic Team. 

"Congratulations to the 1,199 student-athletes who were named to the 2019 MASCAC Fall/Winter All-Academic team," Commissioner Baumann said. "This list is a testament to the hard work of our student-athletes not only in the classroom but in their respective field of play. The conference is excited to see the growth of student-athletes recognized on this year's team."

MCLA's Women's Soccer program earned the most slots wtih 15 student athletes on the roster.  Men's Soccer was next with 10.  All nine Trailblazer programs were represented on the team.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom.  MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University.  Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as a football affiliate member in 2013.
