Bio

Pires Induction

Pires transferred into the college prior to the 1997 season from AIC.  Once enrolled, he didn’t take long to impact the Men’s Soccer program under hall of fame head coach Ron Shewcraft.  Pires would go on to score 20 goals and accumulate 9 assists in his three run career in North Adams.  Pires wasn’t just an athlete in North Adams as he was a tremendous student being named to the Dean’s list and earning the “excellence in Radio Production” award from the English/Communications department.

During his final two seasons, Pires was an All MASCAC selection as well as team captain.  As a junior, he would lead the team to a 10-7-3 mark as well as a bid into the ECAC New England Championships.

His best season was his last as he was named an All New England selection after collecting 8 goals and 2 assists for 18 points.  He was also named All MASCAC for the second straight season.

Pires continues to be an avid soccer fan and is currently the Director of coaching for the Western United Pioneers, a premier soccer organization in Western Massachusetts. Family has always been the most important thing to Pires and he loves spending time with his partner Olivia and his daughter Cora.  He also has a passion for Art and Music and gets the opportunity to travel quite a bit as he most recently returned from Europe.
