Bio

Steve Swail was a three-year member of the baseball team. He was a member of two conference championship teams during his career in 1987 and 1989. In 1989, Swail was elected captain leading the team to a 19-9-1 record and was the recipient of the Louis Parisien Award. Over the course of his career, his team would record 66 wins in his three seasons.

Upon finishing his collegiate career, Swail signed professionally with the Atlanta Braves organization. Swail played professional baseball for five seasons. He had his best season in 1993, batting .263 with his only career home run while he played for the Durham Bulls out of the Carolina League. He was best known for defensive prowess behind the plate. After retiring from professional baseball he moved on to be a scout for Major League Baseball. He has done scouting for the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees
