National Girls and Women in Sports Day draws 78 participants

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Athletics Department held their annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration Saturday.  The event drew 78 enthusiastic participants as the national theme was "passing the torch, blazing the trail."  The event culminated with the Women's basketball game against Bridgewater State.

Sixty girls attended and were treated to clinics in Zumba Dance, Volleyball, Basketball, and Lacrosse.  The girls also were guests of the women's basketball team and attended an autograph session later in the day.

Eighteen women also participated as they enjoyed the pool, MCLA fitness center, and Pickleball this year.

The celebratory event is in its 26th year at MCLA and is organized by Dot Houston, assistant athletics director.  There were also 55 volunteers this year including Trailblazer student athletes, coaches, and administrators.

The national date for NGWSD this year is Wednesday, February 5th.
