Robinson saves the day as Trailblazer Baseball slips past Anna Maria 8-6

Northboro, MA- The MCLA baseball team slipped past the Anna Maria Amcats this afternoon by a score of 8-6 in a non conference game played at the New England Baseball Complex.  With the win, the Trailblazers improve to 7-9 on the season and earned their second straight win.  The Amcats fall to 7-22 on the season.

The Trailblazers led for much of the game and held a 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning.  The Amcats would tie the score when Matt Elliot blasted a two out, three run homer to tie it up at 6-6 off Trailblazer reliever Brendan Kelly.

MCLA didn't wait long to go back in front however.  Christian Seariac drew a one out walk and advanced to third on a single from Billy Pulasky.  Seariac would score on an Amcat balk giving MCLA a 7-6 advantage.  The Trailblazers would tack on another run as Pulasky would score on an infield error making it 8-6 with the Amcats coming to bat against Kelly.

The sophomore right hander hit the first batter then walked the next two hitters to load the bases prompting a pitching change from head coach Mike Gladu.  Gladu summoned first year righty Schuyler Robinson to get out of the jam.  Robinson got Tanner Jakol looking for the first out and then induced a game ending 6-3 double play to end it and earn the save in the process.

The Trailblazers got a quality start out of first year player Brody Farnum as he tossed the first six innings and allowing just 7 hits and 3 earned runs.  MCLA had 7 hits in the contest compared to 6 for the Amcats.

MCLA is back in action tomorrow when they resume MASCAC play with a twinbill at Fitchburg State at 2pm.
