New hurls second straight shutout as MCLA completes sweep of Colby Sawyer 2-0

Auburndale, FL- Left Hander Bobby New tossed a complete game shutout allowing just three hits and striking out 8 Colby Sawyer hitters in lifting the Trailblazers to a 2-0 win over the Chargers in Auburndale, FL.  The Trailblazers (5-2) completed the sweep after taking game one 6-1.  CSC drops to 2-6 on the season with the loss.

New (2-0) was the story here as he dominated from the onset in collecting his second straight shutout in Florida.  He quickly erased any hopes for a Charger rally as he picked off three runners throughout the contest.  His 7 strikeouts were a career high.

MCLA would score single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.  Brett LaBonte's RBI single scored Bill Pulasky with the game's first run.  Jeff Bink continued his torrid surge by driving in the second run in the fifth with a double to left field making it 2-0.  Neither side would mount much offense the rest of the way.

Pulasky and Ben Durland each collected a pair of hits to lead the offense.

CSC's Noah Yeingst took the loss going the distance for the Chargers.

MCLA wraps up the spring trip tomorrow morning with a twinbill against UMaine Farmington.
