Rumbolt, Nolan snag All MASCAC honors in Baseball

2018 All MASCAC Baseball Team

North Adams, MA- MCLA baseball players Logan Rumbolt and Liam Nolan were named to the All MASCAC team as announced by the league offices this afternoon.  Rumbolt (North Adams, MA), a sophomore, was a first team utility player, while Nolan (Pittsfield, MA) was tabbed as a second team selection as a pitcher.  The honors are the first for each respective player during their careers at MCLA.

Westfield State swept the major awards as Anthony Crowley was selected as the MASCAC player of the year and John Gegetskas was tabbed the Pitcher of the Year.  Westfield State head coach Nathan Bashaw earned the Coach of the Year honor.  The MASCAC rookie of the year went to John Teehan of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Rumbolt had a breakout season for MCLA in 2018.  The sophomore saw action in multiple infield positions and then settled in as a right fielder for most of the conference slate.  He is currently third in the conference as he ended the season batting .376 which led the team.   Rumbolt played in all 29 games for the Trailblazers and led the team in runs scored with 22.  He collected 8 doubles which also led MCLA and drove in 15 runs and stole 7 bases.

Nolan had an outstanding senior season on the mound for the Trailblazers.    He was the ace of the staff and led the team with a 3.74 ERA in 10 appearances.  He went 3-1 overall with wins over Framingham State, Salem State, and Colby Sawyer in 2018.  He struck out 63 batters which is currently tied for third in the league in just 53 innings pitched.  Nolan struck out a career best 12 Framingham State hitters in the MASCAC opening round game.

Rumbolt and Nolan led MCLA back into the MASCAC postseason for the second consecutive season.  The Trailblazers finished this season at 13-15-1 overall which included a 6-7-1 conference mark.
