Cross sweeps MASCAC honors after his MVP performance in Tri State Shootout

MASCAC Weekly Report

Highlights

North Adams, MA- It's been quite a weekend for MCLA's Keiland Cross.  Fresh off an MVP performance in the Tri State Shootout, Cross has been named the MASCAC player and rookie of the week.  Cross swept the awards after averaging 24.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in a 2-1 week for MCLA, including a tournament title in the Tri State.

Cross' week began at regionally ranked WPI where he led the team with 19 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds.  He then burst onto the scene with two tremendous performances as MCLA hosted the Tri State Shootout on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday against RPI, Cross tallied 27 points, pulled down 7 rebounds, and handed out 4 assists in the Trailblazers 71-67 win over the Engineers, their first of the season.  While that performance was outstanding, he was even better in the final against Fisher.

In that contest, Cross went for 28 points, grabbed 11 boards, and dished out 8 assists as he nearly missed a triple double.  All totals were season high's for the six foot guard.  For his efforts, Cross was an easy selection as the tournament's most valuable player.

The rookie honor marks the second straight week he's collected the award and it's the third overall this season.

Cross and the Trailblazers wrap up first semester play tomorrow night when they take on Norwich College on the road.
