Cross earns third straight MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor

MASCAC Weekly Release

North Adams, MA- MCLA's Keiland Cross continued his torrid scoring pace in his lone outing this week and it was good enough to secure his third straight MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor.  It is the fourth time in five weeks that Cross has claimed the conference honor this season.

Framingham State's Manny Payton earned the player of the week honors.

Cross has been hot over the last few weeks and in his lone performance at Norwich last Tuesday, he was outstanding once again.  The guard from Pittsfield, MA. tallied 29 points and snatched 11 rebounds in the Trailblazers loss.  He was 10-16 from the floor in the contest and was a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.

Over the last three weeks, Cross has averaged 18.6 ppg and has led the Trailblazers in scoring his last four times out.  He has also averaged 10 boards a game over his last three starts.  In his last three games, Cross has been at his best averaging 28 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, both of which lead the team.

He is currently third in the MASCAC in scoring at just over 16.5 ppg this season.  Cross and the Trailblazers are off until the MASCAC opener on January 4th when MCLA hosts Worcester State.
