Men's Hoop falls to Fitchburg State in MASCAC action

Fitchburg, MA- The Fitchburg State men's basketball team received 21 points and 12 rebounds from Joshua Bosworth and placed four other players in double figures as the Falcons routed the MCLA Trailblazers 101-66 Wednesday night in MASCAC action.  With the win, the Falcons improve to 7-9 overall and stand at 2-3 in the conference.

MCLA drops their seventh straight tilt and is now 2-13 overall and 0-5 in the league.

Both teams got off to sluggish starts and with six minutes left til halftime FSU led just 22-21 following a Nolan Bird triple.  From there though, the hosts would dominate.  They would outscore MCLA 20-5 over the final minutes of the half to take a 42-26 lead into the locker room.

Fitchburg would tally six straight points out of the locker room to boost the lead to 48-26 and never look back.  They were never challenged the rest of the way.

Bosworth was 9-15 from the floor for his 21 point night.  Jaleel Bell did most of his damage in the first half and ended with 16 points on 7-13 shooting.  He added 7 rebounds and 4 assists.  Marcos Germosen tallied 19 points off the bench on 9-12 shooting while Mustapha Koroma added 12 points in the win.

The Falcons overcame the slow start to shoot 52% from the floor including 55% in the second half.  FSU outscored MCLA 59-40 in the closing twenty minutes of play.

The Trailblazers were led by Joe Wiggins team high 21 point night on 9-19 shooting.  Nolan Bird had a solid night scoring 15 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.  Keiland Cross added 14 points but was just 4-14 shooting.  He did grab 9 boards while Joe Murray pulled down a game high 13 caroms.

MCLA shot just 33% from the floor in the loss.

The Trailblazers host Dean College in non league action on Saturday at 3pm.
