Yearsley repeats, adds fifth MASCAC rookie of the week honor as playoffs begin tomorrow

MASCAC Weekly Release

North Adams, MA- For the fifth time this season, men's basketball first year forward Noah Yearsley has been selected as the MASCAC rookie of the week.  Yearsley is a repeat selection as he took home the award last week as well.  Fitchburg State's Jonathan Perez was selected as the conference's player of the week.

Yearsley had another steady week for MCLA as they clinched the third seed in this week's MASCAC championships.  He collected 13 points, 4 assists, and 2 rebounds in a game at regular season champion Salem State.  That performance set up the regular season finale, one in which MCLA needed a win to secure a top four playoff seed.

The lanky forward responded with a team best 15 point effort.  He added 5 rebounds and 2 assists in a resounding win over Framingham State on Saturday.  For the week, Yearsley shot 12-21 (57%) and canned four three pointers.

Yearsley has claimed five of the thirteen rookie of the week honors to date as he will look to continue his freshman season when MCLA hosts Framingham State tomorrow in the MASCAC quarterfinal round.  Yearsley and the Trailblazers swept the Rams in regular season play, both by double digits.  The winner moves on to face Bridgewater State on Thursday night.
