DeMartinis claims MASCAC player of the week honors
North Adams, MA- MCLA junior forward Mike DeMartinis (Burlington, MA) has been tabbed the MASCAC Player of the Week presented by GEICO. DeMartinis claims the honor for the first time this season after a conference opening win at Bridgewater State. Fitchburg State's Keegan Sharp collected the rookie of the week award.
DeMartinis led MCLA to a 74-68 road win over the Bears in the conference opener for both programs. The 6'1 junior posted 20 points with 4 rebounds and a season best 5 assists in the win. He was 8-19 shooting and added a pair of steals for MCLA.
The win was MCLA's fifth straight, but this was the first conference win of 2020 making it more significant. The Trailblazers have improved to 8-4 overall this season heading into a busy week. MCLA hosts Fitchburg on Tuesday night before hosting Salem State on Thursday night.
DeMartinis was coming off a few sluggish starts but has since rebounded. He is currently 12th in the conference and behind teammate Noah Yearsley for the teams leading scorer.
