St. George, VT- The MCLA golf team raised the curtain on a new season Wednesday afternoon competing in the Johnson State Invitational at Rocky Ridge Golf Club.  The Trailblazers finished fifth of eight teams.

Trailblazer sophomore Nick Young paced MCLA with an 86, good enough for a T-15 finish.  First year Cooper Gavin followed with an 87 and finished 18th.

Castleton won the team event with an impressive score of 310.  The Spartans were nine shots clear of second place Cobleskill.  Norwich placed third with a 324 total, while Cobleskill "B" was fourth at 364.

MCLA was next at 370 and were followed by fellow NAC foe Johnson State at 378.  Paul Smith and Green Mountain rounded out the event.

Castleton's Zach Temple took home medalist honors with a solid one under par round of 71 to sneak past Cobleskill's Ian Wilson, who shot even par.

MCLA will be off until September 12th and 13th when they compete at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown for the Williams College fall invitational.
