Men's Soccer beaten on the road at Salve Regina 6-0

Newport, RI- Salve Regina's Conor Woods recorded a first half hat trick in leading the Seahawks to a convincing 6-0 win over the MCLA Trailblazers this afternoon in non league men's soccer action.  Salve Regina remains unbeaten at 11-0-2 while the Trailblazers are still searching for their first win at 0-11-1.

Salve controlled this one from the outset as they outshot MCLA 29-6.  Woods didn't take long to make his mark as he connected just three minutes in for an early 1-0 advantage.  Just a few minutes later, he would convert a pass from Donald Igo to increase the lead to 2-0.

He would wrap up his hat trick in the 18th minute of play.  Once again, he banged home an Igo feed to make it 3-0 Seahawks and they never looked back.  The score remained that way into halftime.

In the second half, three different Seahawks, including Igo would connect.  Igo tallied in the 50th minute off an Evan McDonald pass to make it 4-0.  McDonald then scored his goal after a pass from Matthew O'Donnell to go up 5-0.  Salve's final goal came from Owen Stevenson after another assist from McDonald.

Aside from Woods hat trick, Igo and McDonald each ended with a goal and a pair of assists in the win.

Michael Payan earned the win in goal stopping three shots in the opening half of play.  He combined with Francesco Boncaldo for the shutout as he played the second half.

Holvin Nieves, making his first start for MCLA, absorbed the loss.  He stopped 17 shots in defeat.

MCLA is back in action this weekend when they travel to play Fitchburg State in MASCAC action.
