Tennis drops non league match to RIC 9-0

Bennington, VT- The visiting Rhode Island College men's tennis program moved to 9-2 on the season with a convincing 9-0 win over the MCLA Trailblazers in a match played at the Bennington Tennis Center.  The Trailblazers fall to 3-4.

The visitors took command after sweeping the doubles matches.  Brett Taggart and Alex Bourque defeated Aaron Goldsmith and Jared Freeman 8-4 in the number one doubles match.  The Anchormen duo's of Cam Chadwick and Chandler Scott, along with Matt Gambardella and Ethan Hoy each won 8-0 points to send RIC to singles up 3-0.

The Anchormen took all the singles matches in straight sets, but the match of the day came in the top spot.  Chadwich dueled with Goldsmith but ultimately prevailed for his second point of the day 7-5, 6-3.  Taggart defeated Freeman 6-1, 6-2 to earn his second point of the day.

Gambardella and Hoy each won their respective matches for their second points of the match.  Alan Esposito and Jonny Glendinning rounded out the points winning at the fifth and sixth singles spots for RIC.

The Trailblazers are off until Friday when they take on Colby Sawyer in NAC action.
