Tennis cruises to 8-1 NAC victory over NVU-Lyndon

Bennington, VT- The MCLA Mixed Tennis team cruised to an 8-1 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win this afternoon over visiting NVU-Lyndon.  The Trailblazers improve to 3-4 overall, but are now 1-1 in the NAC.  Lyndon falls to 0-5 and is 0-1 in the league.

MCLA started fast and never looked back.  Charles Najimy and Matt Bluteau earned a point in the top doubles slot with a hard fought 8-6 win over Patrick Wickstrom and Neal Mulligan.  Nick Castle and Sam Gawron defeated Kyle Leighton and Mukhtar Abdullahi 8-2 in the second slot for another point.  Briana Higgins and Mackenna Jordan rolled to an 8-1 win in the third doubles slot to give MCLA a 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.

Najimy earned his second tough point of the afternoon by dispatching of Wickstrom 2-6, 6-1, 10-5 for his second point.  Castle, Gawron, Higgins, and Felix Bou earned straight set singles victories for MCLA.

The Hornets got their lone point when Mulligan defeated Bluteau in the match of the day.  Mulligan earned a 7-6, 7-6 win over Bluteau.

MCLA is back at it tomorrow when they host NVU-Johnson in another NAC matchup.
