Softball falls to nationally ranked Washington (MO) in Clermont

Clermont, FL- The MCLA Softball team fell in today's nightcap to nationally ranked Washington (MO) 10-1 in five innings.  The Trailblazers are now 4-2 heading into another doubleheader tomorrow.  Washington is now 16-4 on the season.

Washington scored three runs in the first inning, pushed another across in the fourth, and added four more in the third to take an insurmountable 8-1 lead.  They would add two more runs in the fifth to close out the scoring due to the mercy rule.

Rachel Quackenbush had three hits for the Trailblazers to lead the offense.  MCLA mustered just four hits on the afternoon.  Katelyn Henault was tagged with the loss.

Wash U. was paced by Brooke Hofer who went 3-3 at the plate.  Janet Taylor added a pair of hits and three RBI.

While the offense was solid, Maggie Clapp was equally impressive on the mound.  She earned the win tossing all five innings and allowing just an unearned run and striking out a pair of Trailblazers.

MCLA is back in action tomorrow when they face Rutgers-Newark and Ithaca.
