MCLA falls to Coast Guard 7-1 at PFX Games

Clermont, FL- The Coast Guard Academy scored four times in the first inning and starting pitcher Sydney Arendt went the distance leading the Bears to a 7-1 victory over the MCLA Softball team this afternoon at Hancock Park in Clermont, FL.  Coast Guard improves to 7-1 overall.  The Trailblazers drop to 0-3 with the setback.

The Bears chased MCLA starter Kara Adams in the first inning with their four run uprising.   Emma Hvozdovich tripled and came around on Courtney McKenna's double down the right field line for an early 1-0 lead.  After a pair of two out walks loaded the bases, Claire Hurley cleared them all with a triple to right and a 4-0 lead. 

MCLA would add a run in the third inning as they strung together three straight hits and Sam Feinstein came home on an error by the defense to cut the deficit to 4-1.  Coast Guard would add a single run in the fourth inning on a double steal making it 5-1.  Coast Guard rounded out the scoring with a pair of runs in the sixth.

Kaylyn Holliday led the MCLA offense going 2-3 with a double.  MCLA mustered just 7 hits in the contest. Adams absorbed the loss (0-1) and Feinstein tossed 5 1/3 innings allowing just two earned runs.

Sydney Arendt earned the win improving to 3-0 on the season.  She went the distance and allowed five hits and struck out two MCLA batters.  Hvozdovich paced the offense with two hits while Hurley drove in three runs.

MCLA takes on Scranton at 7pm in the nightcap.
