Women's Basketball drops season opener to Springfield

Springfield, MA- Springfield College placed four players in double figures as they cruised past the MCLA Women's Basketball team 74-37 tonight in the season opener for both teams.  The Pride are now 1-0 while MCLA is 0-1.

Emily Jacques scored a game best 16 points for the Pride in the win.  Amanda Carr chipped in with 15 points while Alex Goslin added 13.  All three players added 6 rebounds while Goslin collected 6 assists in the win.  Lauren Rudolph ended with 10 points.

MCLA was paced by Kylah Langston's team high 14 points.

Springfield took control early in this one as they jumped all over MCLA and took a 24-7 lead after one quarter.  The lead would grow to 40-13 at halftime as the Pride held MCLA to just 18% shooting in the opening half of play.  The lead grew to 61-22 after three quarters of action as the Pride coasted home.

MCLA shot just 28% from the field and committed 21 turnovers in the loss.

The Trailblazers are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Cobleskill in the home opener.
