Bears cruise past Trailblazers in MASCAC season opener

North Adams, MA- Ten different Bears found the back of the net this afternoon at Shewcraft Field as Bridgewater State downed MCLA 19-3 in the MASCAC season opener for both teams.  With the win the Bears move to 7-2 (1-0 MASCAC) while MCLA falls to 1-2 (0-1 MASCAC).

Bridgewater jumped out early and dominated most of the first half scoring the game's first 12 goals. With five and a half minutes remaining in the opening stanza, MCLA's Mackenzie Cutler would put the Trailblazers on the board with the first of her two goals on the day.

The MCLA defense seemed to settle in after Cutler's goal playing the Bears tough the rest of the way. Goalie Zoe Elwell made several impressive stops in the second half as she would face 31 shots on the day.

Bridgewater was led by junior Elizabeth Ettridge who scored 5 times along with sophomore Victoria McDonough who would assist on 7 goals. Junior Mackenzie Manning and freshman Lacey Dinning would both add 3 goals apiece.

This Tuesday Bridgewater State will host MIT in a nonconference contest, while MCLA travels to Fitchburg State Friday for a 7pm MASCAC matchup.
