Lacrosse falls to Fitchburg State in MASCAC action

Fitchburg, MA- Host Fitchburg State ran out to a 10-0 halftime advantage and never looked back as they defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 16-2 this evening in MASCAC action.  The Falcons improve to 6-3 overall and are 1-1 in the conference.  MCLA drops to 1-3 overall and is 0-2 in the conference.

Five different Falcons tallied at least two goals led by Carrie Long's three markers.  Anna Gagnon-Burch, Nicole Lee, Rebecca Fisher, and Alyssa Flynn all had two goals in the win.

Sarah Napolitano got the scoring started just one minute into the contest for an early 1-0 advantage.  Sarah Mallahan added another goal in the next minute and when Lee scored with 25 minutes left in the half, it was 3-0 Fitchburg.  

Gagnon Burch and Tracy Long followed with goals and then Long scored two straight to increase the margin to 7-0.  Fisher, Lee, and Gagnon-Burch would close out the half with goals for the 10-0 lead.

MCLA would not threaten in the second half as they couldn't get any offense going.  Fitchburg eventually led 15-0 before MCLA's Kim Granito finally got the Trailblazers on the board.  Mackenzie Cutler tallied the Trailblazers other goal of the contest.

Zoe Elwell stopped 16 shots in goal for MCLA as she fell to 1-3 on the season.  Fitchburg's Marguerite Belcher improved to 6-3 as she stopped a pair of shots.

MCLA is back in action on Thursday night as they host SVC at 6pm.
