Tennis closes regular season with 7-2 win over Lyndon, seeded third in NAC postseason tournament

Lyndon, VT- The MCLA Women's Tennis team completed their regular season with a convincing 7-2 win over Lyndon State this afternoon in NAC action.  The Trailblazers end the regular season at 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference.  MCLA will be the third seed in next weekend's postseason tournament.

Lyndon drops to 3-8 overall and is 2-4 in the league.  

MCLA took two of three singles matches to take an early lead.  Mackenna Jordan and Briana Higgins defeated Emilie Dube and Savannah Jackson 8-1 in the top doubles slot.  Jessica Dupont paired with Alyssa Keegan for another 8-1 win, this one over Faibe Achinda and Erica Hayakawa in the second doubles pairing.

Lyndon's Oo Mai Be and Susmita Mangar handled McKenna Clark and Samantha Schwantner to bring the Hornets to within 2-1 after doubles play.

In singles, MCLA would take the first five matches to earn the win.  Dupont, Higgins, Jordan, Clark, and Keegan all earned points in singles competition.  Higgins earned her point, but had to work hard against Savannah Jackson as she claimed a 6-2, 7-6 win.

The Trailblazers will be the third seed next weekend and will face second seeded Lesley next Sunday.  MCLA dropped a nailbiter to the Lynx earlier this season 5-4.
