MCLA splits on day 1 of Hartwick tourney, win streak stopped at 13

Hartwick, NY- The MCLA Trailblazers won their 13th straight game as they began the Hartwick Invitational tournament with a 3-1 win over Elmira College, however they dropped the nightcap to Nazareth 3-0.  The Trailblazers saw their winning streak come to an end as they drop to 14-4 on the season.  The thirteen game winning streak was the longest in school history.

Against Nazareth, MCLA dropped a tough first set by a score of 26-24.  The Flyers easily took game two at 25-13 before closing out the Trailblazers 25-23 in the third and final set.

Allison Clark had 6 kills and 14 digs for the Trailblazers.  Rachel Mills ended with 6 kills as well.  Chanielle Enomoto finished with a team best 16 digs, while Courtney Parent and Angelica Perfido added 11 and 10 respectively.

Nazareth was paced by Jennifer Hicks' 7 kills while Maureen Thayer added a match best 28 assists.

In the opener against Elmira, MCLA rallied after dropping the first set 25-22.  They would win the next two by scores of 25-23 and 25-22 before ending the match with a 25-19 set three win.  The win was the Trailblazers thirteenth straight victory.

Allison Clark was outstanding collecting 18 kills on 35 attacks.  She completed the double double by notching 13 digs.  Chanielle Enomoto had 24 digs on the defensive side, while Angelica Perfido had 11.  Courtney Parent chipped in with 14 assists and Beatrice Lechler had 13.

Ashley Heiman and Natalie Schieder had 15 and 13 kills respectively to lead Elmira.

MCLA continues play tomorrow when they face tournament host Hartwick and Morrisville State.
