Trailblazers Glide Past Blue Jays 3-0 on Senior Night
North Adams, MA- On senior night, the MCLA Volleyball team started off hot and never let up beating St. Joseph (CT) 3-0 in a non-conference match up at Amsler Campus Center Gym. With the win, the Trailblazers are now 11-13 while the Blue Jays are 9-10.
The Trailblazers controlled the whole game throughout, taking the first set with a convincing 25-18 win. They would follow it up with a dominant second set of 25-12 before finishing the match off with a 26-24 win. The final set included a six-point comeback capping off the sweep for the Trailblazers.
The Trailblazers were led by their two seniors Sam Anderson and Allison Clark. Clark led the Trailblazers with 9 kills while Anderson added 7. Anderson added 10 digs with Clark adding 7 as well. Freshman setter Tessa Sestito had a strong performance for the Trailblazers notching a team high 17 assists and chipped in with 9 digs.
St. Joseph was led by senior middle hitter Cassandra Grimaldi with 7 kills. Sophomore Brenna Miller contributed with a double-double notching 16 assists and 14 digs. Freshman Jasmine Buckley and sophomore Carly Ruzbasan also contributed for the Blue Jays adding 8 digs a piece.
MCLA is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Salem State in tri-match MASCAC play.
